Breast augmentation surgery is the process of increasing breast size with breast implants or transfer of fat tissues. This process is also performed to eliminate asymmetry and sagging, and to obtain round and large breasts after excessive weight loss or pregnancy. The size and appearance of the breasts can be changed with breast augmentation surgery, and harmony of the breast and hip area can be obtained at the same time. The purpose of these aesthetic procedures is to obtain a symmetrical and aesthetically satisfying breast profile that displays the natural curves of the patient after the procedure. Breast augmentation surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. The incisions required for the procedure can be made in places that are not visible from the outside, such as around the nipple, under the breast fold or in the armpit area. The location of the incision is decided according to the implant to be used, the size to be obtained and the anatomy of the patient. After the incision is made, the implant is placed under the pectoral muscle or directly under the breast tissue. It is very natural to experience mild tingling and swelling within a few weeks following the procedure. Aching or pain can be easily controlled with prescribed pain relievers. Patients should wear a compress bandage or sports bra for extra support during the recovery process. Patients, who do not have heavy working conditions, can return to work within a few weeks. In this process, it is necessary to avoid activities and movements that will increase heart rhythm or blood pressure. During the recovery period, the breasts become very sensitive to touch. In procedures where drains are used, these drains should be removed later. Although the incisions made are visible after the procedure, they are not noticeable from outside within 1 year.
